Shamrock Spiral Tag |
This tutorial is my own creation. Any resemblance to another is purely coincidental.
Please read my tutorial terms. I used Paintshop Pro 7.04, but it should work in other versions. You'll need a knowledge of Paintshop Pro to make this tutorial. I added screenshots for those that are fairly new to PSP, and easy to follow directions. I learned about this filter from another persons tutorial and love it, there's so many possibilities with this filter :) What you will need: Paint Shop Pro trial version HERE Mura's Filter Meister Copies 1.3 Plugin DOWNLOAD Pattern DOWNLOAD A Tube of Choice I got mine at Suzie Q's Unzip your Mura's Copies into where you keep your plug-ins. If you have Paint Shop Pro open, close it and reopen it for this filter to work. Unzip your Pattern download into your patterns folder in your Paint Shop Pro. If you don't have a zip program you can get one HERE **Save your work often! Open up a New Image, 400x400, transparent image. 1. Rename layer 1, shamrock 1. 2. Click on your Preset Shape Tool. In your tool options pick out Club 1 (This comes with PSP 7). Make your foreground Null. Your background will be the Cracked Emerald pattern (download). Scale 100, Angle 0. 3. At the left bottom of your workspace you'll see numbers moving as you move your mouse cursor around. If you don't see them your status bar might be turned off. Go to View and click on toolbars and check/click on "status bar" so it will show. **In this next step you may want to write down the start and end numbers. 191,224 > 255,291. 4. Place your cursor so the first numbers are 191,224. Hold down your right mouse button and drag your shamrock out until the second set of numbers are 255,291. Then let go of your mouse button. (the reason for this positioning is so when we spiral it fits right into your image). 5. We want to get rid of some of the stem of the Shamrock. Click on your freehand tool. In tool options make sure it's set at freehand. Now just draw around the area we want to get rid of some of the stem as seen in the screen shot. Hit delete. Selections/Select None. 6. Right click your mouse on Shamrock 1 layer. Duplicate. Rename this layer Shamrock 2 and drag this layer to below your Shamrock 1 layer. (You won't see the results of the next step right away until you move Shamrock 1). 7. Go to Colors/Adjust/Brightness, Contrast and apply: Brightness -58, Contrast 31. 8. Activate your Shamrock 1 layer. Use your Mover tool and move this shamrock just a little bit down and to the right (very little). It should look like the one in the screenshot. Now right click on either layer. Merge/Merge Visible. 9. Use your Mover Tool and look down again at your status bar on the left bottom and move your shamrock until the numbers show 190,232. 10. Go to your Muras's Filter Meister Copies plug-in, and click where the red arrow in the screenshot shows and it will open a window of presets. Pick out Spiral. (you don't have to change anything else). Click on OK. 11. Use your Mover tool to place your spiral evenly. 12. Add a New layer, for your tube. I've got my tube sized at 80%. I also put my tube on a layer behind the shamrock spiral. 13. Now just add your text to your liking. And that's it! I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. If you have any questions please email me.
