Paintshop Pro 7 Lace Valentine
Paintshop Pro 8 Lace Valentine
This tutorial is my own creation. Any resemblance to another is purely coincidental. Please
read my tutorial terms. I used Paintshop Pro 7.04, and I've included steps that are somewhat different
using Paintshop Pro 8. As you can see the effects differ some between PSP 7, and PSP 8.
You'll need a knowledge of Paintshop Pro to make this tutorial. This tutorial uses Visman Tools it's a great set of filters, lots of fun to play with and make neat stuff with. We'll only be using it for the grid to make the easy lace. The rest effects are right in your paintshop pro. You can also just make plain lace with different shapes to use for other projects.

What you'll need:
Paintshop Pro trial version
HERE
Visman Tool Filter
HERE
Or just the Grid Filter #10
HERE
Bow
Download

Unzip your downloads into where you keep your files for your Paintshop Pro. Everybody
has a different way of doing this, depending on what versions they are using. If you need a
zip/unzip program you can get winzip

**Save your work often!

All the steps for Paintshop Pro 7 and 8 are the same except for the settings of the wave and weave effect
those are noted **For PSP 8.

1. Open up a New image. 400x400, Transparent.

2. Foreground Color #D16D8C and Floodfill. (Or choice of Color) at the end you can Colorize
your bow to match your heart color.

3. VM tool box>Grid>Size 8, X-Adjust 0, Y-Adjust 0, Line Width 0, Red 255, Green 255, Blue 255, Transparency 255. OK.

4. Deformation tool. Turn so your square is a diamond. Apply.

New Layer.

5. VM tool box>Grid>Size 8>same settings as before. Do not turn this lace
just keep it as it is.

6. Close out your first layer.
Go to the next layer which is your first grid. Right click Merge/Merge Visible.

New layer.

7. Foreground Null. Background Color #D16D8C (or color of choice).

8. Preset Heart 4 that comes with your psp7. Draw out your heart to your choice or look at my
finished one.

9. Effects/Texture effects/Weave and apply: Gap size 7, Width 1, Opacity 100.
Weave Color #F2EAEA, Gap Color #F4F1E8. (Or pick colors to match your color).
**For PSP 8 apply: Gap 5, Width 1, Opacity 100. Weave Color #F4F1E8, Gap Color #D16D8C (or
the color of your heart). Fill gaps UNchecked.

10. Effects/3Deffects/Inner Bevel and apply the preset round. Width 31, Smoothness 100,
Depth 1, Ambience 0, Shininess 50, Color White, Angle 315, Intensity 50, Elevation 30, OK.

11. Selections/Select All, Selections/Float, Selections/Modify/Expand by 25.
Selections/Invert.
Click on the layer of your merged lace and then press your delete button. (It should look now like the
screenshot, except this heart is not beveled or weaved).
Selections/Select None.

12. Stay on your lace layer.
Effects/Geometric/Wave and apply: Both Amplitudes 4. Both Wavelengths 17. OK
**For PSP 8 apply: Effects/Distortion effects/ Both Amplitudes 1. Both Wavelengths 5.
Check Transparent .
Adjust/Sharpeness/Sharpen then do it again for a total of 2 times sharpened.

13. Open up your bow download. Edit/Copy, Edit/Paste as a new layer and use your mover tool
to place.

**Optional** Effects/Texture effects/Blinds and apply: Width 1, Opacity 33, Color #F0D4DF,
Both Horizontal and Light from left/top UNchecked. OK.

14. **Optional** Now just add your text. I used blade pro and the blind texture on my text. If you
don't have blade pro a innerbevel would look fine with the blind texture. I brought my text layer to
below the bow layer, but which ever you prefer would look fine.

FINISHING

You can do 1 of 2 things here.
1. Activate your blank Layer 1 and add a background. If you used Layer 1 add a New Layer and
drag it to the bottom, and add a background. OR:
2. You can Right Click on any layer in your layer pallette. Merge/Merge Visible.
Go to File/Export and down the menu click on Picture tube. Type in the name
you want for your image, and it will go to your picture tubes. I like making
a lot of my work into picture tubes because I can make them the scale size I
want and they always look nice. After you make your picture tube you can also
save your image for later use.

And that's it! I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. If you have any questions please Email me.
