Easy Glass Ornament |
I made this tutorial using Paintshop Pro 7.04, but it should work in other versions. Please read my tutorial Terms. If there is another tutorial out there like this, this is purely coincidental. I haven't seen one yet, but there's thousands of ornaments out there :) I was just playing around and Voila! it was born lol. So here we go! What you'll need: Paintshop Pro Here My Deco Download. And your Imagination :) 1. Open a New Image 350x350, transparent, 16.7 million color. 2. Add a new layer, name it white circle. 3. Use your Selections Tool Circle, and make a nice size circle, leaving room at the top for the gold ornament top thingy. 4. Floodfill with White. 5. Selections/Invert. DO NOT DESELECT THE GLASS 1. Add a new layer, name it glass ball. 2. Effects/3Deffects/Dropshadow and apply these settings: Vertical 0 Horizontal 0 Opacity 50 Blur 22.2 Color Black DESELECT 3. Now go back to your "white circle" layer and Right Click DELETE. Now you only have the glass ball left. SPECKLES 1. Activate your glass ball layer. 2. Use your Magic Wand and click on the outside of your glass ball. 3. Selections/Invert. 4. Add a new layer, name it speckles. 5. Floodfill with foreground color #DBBA37 6. In your layer pallette way to the right is "Normal". Click on it then Click on Dissolve. (see screenshot). 7. Slide your Opacity (where it shows 100) to the left to 4. DESELECT MERGE Now Right Click on your glass ball layer, Merge/MergeVisible. ORNAMENT TOP 1. Add a new layer (this will be the top layer). 2. Use your Selection Tool Rectangle and draw a rectangle at the top of your ornament (see screenshot). 3. Floodfill with White. 4. Effects/Textures/Sculpture. 5. Pick Gold Preset (or #1 Pattern), and apply these settings: Size 25 Smoothness 100 Depth 20 Ambience -4 Shininess 46 Color White Angle 315 Intensity 32 Elevation 68. 6. Effects/Textureffects/Texture Apply Preset #8 DESELECT GOLD HOOP 1. New layer 2. Preset Shape Elipse, Antialias Checked, Width 3, (line style doesn't matter). 3. Foreground White. (Background NULL). 4. Click on the white with your Magic Wand 4. Effects/Textureffects/Sculpture: Apply same settings as before but change: Smoothness to 48, Shininess to 42. DESELECT 5. Using your Selections tool rectangle. Select around the bottom half of the hoop. Hit Delete. 6. Drag this layer below your "ornament top" layer. Use your Mover tool to place it in the middle. . Now it'a time for the fun part of decorating. You can use the tubes I've included which are from Jasc's Free Holiday Tubes you can get them HERE. Add tubes using your Picture Tube Tool. The only important things you need to do for decorating is: 1. Keep each tube on it's own layer to be able to move them around, or use your deformation tool to rotate and size. 2. When you have all your decortaing done. Shutoff your "Glass Ornament" layer by clicking on the eyeglasses. Then go to the next layer, Right Click, Merge/MergeVisible, and drag this layer below your "Glass Ornament" layer. 3. You can add a new layer and bring it below your ornament layer and add a background. Or you can Right Click Merge/MergeVisible, and tube your ornament. **Note: If you'd like to make more of these ornaments but different colored speckles make sure to duplicate your image and keep an extra aside in .psp format. And that's it! I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. If you have any questions please Email me :) Happy Creating! Debbie November 7, 2002 |
