EZ Country Xmas Candle |
This tutorial is my own creation. Any resemblance to another is purely coincidental.
Please read my tutorial terms. I used Paintshop Pro 7.04, and it should work in other versions. You'll need a knowledge of Paintshop Pro to make this tutorial. This tutorial uses Preset Shapes, No Vectors! lol What You'll Need: A trial versions of Paintshop Pro Here Heart Preset Shape Download Thanks to Wendy I found out these heart presets came from Prestigious Dames. Unzip your Heart Preset Shape into whatever folder your preset shapes are kept in. If you don't have a unzip program you can find winzip Here In new versions of Paintshop Pro instead of where I say to use Effects, it will probably be Adjust. Open up a New Image, 250x250, transparent. CANDLE 1. New layer, name it Candle. 2. Use your preset shape "rounded rectangle", Anti-alias Checked, Vector Unchecked. Make your Foreground Null and your Background color of choice. I used Color #A45252. Draw out your candle shape to the size you would like. 3- Selections/Select All, Selections/Float, Selections/Invert. 4- Effects/3Deffects/Dropshadow and apply these settings: (If you pick a different color for you candle, be sure to pick a darker color for your shadow. Vertical and Horizontal both 0, Opacity 50, Blur 42, Color #400000 Selections/Select None. 5- Effects/Noise/Add 5, Uniform Checked. WICK 1. New layer. Name it Wick. 2. Use your Drawing tool. Single Line. Width 2. Antialias Checked. Vector Unchecked. Foreground Black, Background Null. 3. Draw a little line for your wick in the middle of the top of your candle. (Use your Mover tool if you need to get it moved a little more). FLAME 1. New layer. Name it Flame. 2. Pick out your "heart shape" in your preset shapes if you don't have one I've provided one in the download. Antialias Checked, Vector Unchecked. Foreground Null. Background Color #E5D26B 3. Now you want the heart to be upside down, so when you draw it out start at the top of your wick, and draw upwards so it's upside down. Then use your Mover Tool to place your flame. 4. Selections/Select All, Selections/Float, Selections/Invert. 5. Effects/3Deffects/Dropshadow and apply: Vertical and Horizontal both 0. Opacity 65, Blur 28.4, Color #E59A41 Selections/Select None. 6. Effects/Noise/Add 5, Uniform Checked. OPTIONAL STAR 1. New layer. Name it Star. 2. Foreground Null. Background Color #608C72. Draw yourself out a star and move it using your Mover Tool to the middle of your candle. 3. Selections/Select All, Selections/Float, Selections/Invert. 4. Effects/3Deffects/Dropshadow and apply: Vertical and Horizontal both 0. Opacity 65, Blur 22.2, Color #404000 Selections/Select None. 5. Effects/Noise/Add 5, Uniform Checked. FINISHING You can do 1 of 2 things here. 1. Activate your blank Layer 1 and add a background. If you used Layer 1 add a New Layer and drag it to the bottom, and add a background. OR: 2. You can Right Click on any layer in your layer pallette. Merge/Merge Visible. Go to File/Export and down the menu click on Picture tube. Type in the name you want for your image, and it will go to your picture tubes. I like making a lot of my work into picture tubes because I can make them the scale size I want and they always look nice. After you make your picture tube you can also save your image for later use. And there's your EZ country candle! and no vectors lol. I made 3 of them just playing around. And they don't have to be only for Christmas either you could have fun decorating them to your imagination. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. If you have any questions please email me.
