
This tutorial is a creation of my own. Any resemblance to another is purely coincidental.
I've used techniques I've learned along the way and new ones as I learn. Please read my Terms before doing my tutorial. I used Paintshop Pro X to make this tutorial, but will be compatible with versions 8 and newer. You will need to have a good working knowledge of Paint Shop Pro to do this tutorial. My tutorials may seem lengthy, but I try to write them so even the moderate beginner can be able to do them as well as the more advanced. I hope you enjoy this tutorial as I have making it. What you will need: Paint Shop Pro if you don't have it you can get an evaluation copy Here .psp images Download Selection Download The images and patterns are in .psp image and you can unzip them into your images folder. The Selection unzip into your selections folder in your program if there is not one you can create one. If you dont have a zip program you can get one Here. **Save your work often!!!! 1. Open up your sframe.psp. 2. Magic Wand. Click in the middle of your frame (inside). Selections/Modify/Expand by 3. Add a new layer and drag it below your frame layer. KEEP SELECTED. 3. Foreground Color #7f3e4a, Background Color #42091e. Go back to your foreground and click on the gradient and choose Foreground/Background gradient. Angle 125, Repeats 1. Style=Linear (the first one). Now Floodfill your circle. KEEP SELECTED. Add a new layer and Floodfill this one. Selections/Select None. 4. Effects/Texture effects/Soft Plastic and apply: Blur 100, Detail 59, Density 128, Angle 45, Color White, OK. 5. Open up your Sherri-Lynn_Jolly_Santa2.psp image. Edit/Copy, Edit/Paste as a new layer. Image/Resize by 80 percent, bi-cubic, Resize all layers UNchecked. 6. Foreground Color #7f3e4a, Background Color #42091e. Go back to your foreground and click on the gradient and choose Foreground/Background gradient. Angle 125, Repeats 1. Style=Linear (the first one). 7. New layer. Layers/Arrange/Send to bottom. Selections/Load Save Selection/Load Selection from disk/Choose SantaSnowflake. Source Luminance Checked,Replace selection Checked, Load. Floodfill with your gradient. Keep Selected. 8. Add a new layer and floodfill the selection again. Effects/Texture effects/soft plastic and apply: Blur 100, Detail 59, Density 128, Angle 45, Color White, OK. Selections/Select None. 9. Right click on the top snowflake(2nd layer) Merge/Merge down so that now both the snowflakes are merged together. Effects/3Deffects/InnerBevel and apply: Preset Round (#2 in PSP X), Width 31, Smoothness17, Depth 5, Ambience 0, Shininess 17, Color White, Angle 315, Intensity 50, Elevation 30, OK. 10. Activate your top layer. Open up your ribbon.psp image. Edit/Copy, Edit/Paste as a new layer. Use your mover tool to place your ribbon (See my finished image at the top). 11. Open up your sbell.psp image. Edit/Copy, Edit/Paste as a new layer and move it at the top of your ribbon. ADDING TEXT 1. Foreground Color Black, Background is NULL. Preset Shape Elipse, Vector Checked, Line Style Solid, Width 2. Draw out your circle in the frame middle so the black is right up against where the maroon is. 2. Foreground NULL, Background White. Use your Text tool. I used the font Galeforce BTN, Size 24 pixels, Line Style-Solid. Mouse over your text tool cursor right at the top of your elipse by the node, on your black line (you'll see a little rocker under The A, now click and your text box will show up, type what you want in. If you need to center it, use the middle node (to move you'll see a cross of arrows). To turn your text mouse over and you'll see a turning arrow (click on that and you can turn either right or left). 3. Go to your layer palette and on this layer click on the + to open you vector. Shut off the elipse layer. Click on the - now to close, right click, Convert to Raster layer. And that's it Ho Ho Ho :) Just resize and add your watermark and may you and yours have a very happy holiday season. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial as I did making it.
